One of my favourite parts of film making is the privilege
of stepping into other peoples lives.
I spend time with Wani talking him through my process
and my ideas of how i wanted to tell his story.
It was great to hear about his time in Cairo after he fled Sudan
and how music was where he wanted to be.
We also spent some time at his producer Unit's house in
Blacktown listening to tracks, talking about his volatile
family life and his hopes for the future.
I took these pictures a few days before we shot the film.
